The makers of Hobie surfboards
and the famous Hobie Cat Catamaran have created their own range of single and
dual occupant kayaks. More importantly, Hobie have devised a new
propulsion system that allows you to do away with the paddle, and incorporated
it into their kayaks. Enter the Mirage Drive system and the Mirage range
of Hobie Kayaks.
The design has been patented
worldwide and consists of a peddle motion in your legs turning into a dual
sideways motion for two flipper like fins underneath the kayak. This
system is remarkably efficient and fast!!.

The kayaks are all designed
for fun and function, with watertight portals and pockets throughout, as well as
cargo compartments and tie-down points. This means you don't just take
them for a paddle, you can take them for a day trip, or peddle them up your
favourite river for a spot of camping and fishing. Peddling leaves your
hands free to hold that fishing rod and maybe even a cold one or two... oh, you
might have to nudge the rudder using your thumb once in a while to keep you on
course for that camp site.
